Salams and welcome to my blog, Ramadan Dinners.
What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is a month in the Islamic calendar during which time muslims fast from before sunrise until sunset.
Do you eat during Ramadan?
Yes we eat a meal before sunrise called sehri/suhoor and also at sunset called Iftari/Iftar.
Why did you start this blog?
I started this blog because in 2009 I was not allowed to fast (I fitted into one of the permitted exemptions) and wanted to feel involved despite the fact I was not fasting.
Why continue with the blog?
Partly because I enjoy it, partly because I remember a time when I had no one to share my sehri with and I’d like to think if I was in a similar situation this would make me feel involved with a family.
Who are you?
I am a married muslim woman living in London.
Why don’t you concentrate on your children rather than the blog?
The blog only comes about during important Islamic events. I don’t have children. Please feel free to make dua that I have children.
Why gluten free?
I have coeliac disease meaning that I cannot eat gluten. I have to stick to a gluten free diet for life.
What is gluten?
Gluten is found in wheat, rye, barley and oats. Some oats are suitable for coeliacs and I am able to eat those.
What camera do you use?
Generally I use my phone camera. I aim for a quick turn around, which isn’t always possible.
Can I email you?
Yes you can: ramadandinners at gmail dot com
Can I work with you?
Please email with your proposals.
